9/9/2020. NEW PAPER! Our new paper in Molecular Ecology Resources is the cover article- “Building a global genomics observatory: Using GEOME (the Genomic Observatories Metadatabase) to expedite and improve deposition and retrieval of genetic data and metadata for biodiversity research.” This exciting new resource allows scientists to upload their sample metadata to GEOME, which then automatically generates NCBI submission files, linking the two simultaneously and facilitating biodiversity science and reproducibility. 9/1/20. NEW PAPER! Just out in the Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom “Comparative cleaning behaviour of Pederson’s cleaner shrimp (Ancylomenes pedersoni) between geographically close yet ecologically dissimilar coral reef habitats.” This paper represents the first first-author publication from one of my previous students I’ve advised! 2/6/20. FUNDING! My Marie Curie Individual Fellowship was just selected for funding by the European Union! My project is titled ANEMONE: Evolving a home for Nemo: Genomic consequences and convergence in a model marine mutualism. The project will be conducted with Dr. Nicolas Salamin at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland.

FUNDING! The National Science Foundation has recommended my grant proposal for funding! I am now the Lead-PI on a project to explore the evolution, species delimitation, and systematics of the clownfish-hosting sea anemones, and understand the origin of tropical sea anemone diversity broadly. $740,000  I was invited to give a talk at the Marine and Aquarium Conference of North America (MACNA) in Orlando, FL. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1055790319301575?dgcid=author Heading to Moorea, French Polynesia to work with Dr. Ricardo Beldade, Dr. Suzie Mills, and Dr. Bruno Lapyere of CRIOBE on the genomic basis of bleaching resistance in the magnificent anemone Heteractis magnifica. We will be taking a holobiome approach to explore genomic variation in the microbial, Symbiodineacean, and anemone host communities across a population of anemones that are, and are not, resistant to thermal stress in the lagoon surrounding Moorea.
